Covid Update – Reopening on Monday 12th April

The entirety of our business is classed as non essential retail and has been shut since November.  Our sales, shop, workshop and aftersales departments will all reopen on Monday 12th April.  We ask our customers to please be patient, demand is strong and we are experiencing a large number of calls and enquiries.  We will deal with your enquiry as soon as we possibly can.

Our sales teams will be in touch with all customers awaiting collection of their new vehicle to arrange a collection date at the earliest opportunity.  The sales teams are available to assist with any new enquiries.

Our Aftersales departments have a backlog of servicing, warranty and repairs which we will endeavour to clear as soon as possible.  This will be dealt with in order which we believe is the fair and reasonable manner in which to do so.  Please do not bring your caravan to any of the 3 branches until contacted by our Aftersales teams.  If you would like to book a service then please use the form available on the website.

There have been some questions regarding warranties and whether they will be extended for servicing.  We can confirm that Bailey have extended by 6 months and Swift have extended by 7 months.

There’s no need to contact us.  Our teams will be in touch with everyone as soon as we have an update on your vehicle.

All 3 branches will remain closed until further notice.

We are currently closed and will remain so until Government policy allows us to reopen again after lockdown.  This applies to all 3 of our branches in Swindon, Oxford & Reading.  Please do not visit any of our 3 branches during this time.

What to expect from us if you are new to caravanning?

Since reopening on 1st June, we’ve certainly seen a large influx of people who are entering the caravan market for the first time.  This is fantastic news for the industry and for tourism in the UK as people look to holiday here and not abroad.

We’ve put together a check sheet to help you through the entire process; from choosing the right caravan to suit your requirements and placing a deposit through to what you might expect on the day of collection & our Aftersales service thereafter.  Please note that whilst most of these processes remain the same, some have been adapted due to Coronavirus.  We have social distancing measures in place across all 3 branches for your protection.

Social Distancing Measures

We must all recognise that until a vaccine is developed there will be a requirement for continued social distancing.  Social distancing measures will be in place at all 3 branches for your protection. 

Viewing a Caravan in Person:

Our sales departments are now open.  Secure your next caravan or motorhome now with a £500 deposit.  Simply pop into one of our branches or, if you prefer, book an appointment with one of the sales team to view a caravan or motorhome.  Either fill out the form or contact the sales teams in Swindon, Oxford or Reading for more details.

6 Point ‘Contactless Sale to Collection’ Process

Changes to the customer experience when purchasing a caravan or motorhome are needed.  With this in mind, and most importantly with the health and wellbeing of our customers and staff paramount, below is a 6 point plan to facilitate a future sale without the need to speak in person.

  1. Live video calls and caravan tours available on request.  One of our sales team can give a full demonstration of the vehicle and answer any questions that you have (please submit an enquiry on a stock listing, request by email or text one of our sales team; all their phone numbers are in the ‘Meet the Team’ section of each individual branch page Swindon, Oxford & Reading).
  2. Quote.  If the vehicle meets your requirements then we can provide a quote by phone, text, video call and/or email.
  3. Deposit.  If a deal is agreed then a deposit can be paid by BACS transfer.  At this time we can discuss a date and time to conduct a video demonstration (either live or pre-recorded if preferred) of the caravan or motorhome by our despatch teams.  We will also arrange a collection date.
  4. Cleaning.  The vehicle will receive a 100 point PDI and a full & thorough valet.  All surfaces, lockers and door handles will be sterilised.  We will prepare and leave the vehicle for at least 72 hours prior to collection to avoid contamination if requested.
  5. Handover.  Full payment can be made by BACS transfer and all handover paperwork can be sent to the customer by email.  A video demonstration (either live or pre-recorded) can be conducted by the despatch teams to ensure you are comfortable with the workings and condition of the vehicle before collection.
  6. Collection.  We can hitch it up so you can collect the caravan without leaving your vehicle.  Enjoy your caravan or motorhome, you’re ready for a holiday!

Workshop / Aftersales: 

Servicing, Warranty and Repairs:

We have a large backlog of vehicles currently in or due in to our workshops and we will be working hard to reduce this backlog as soon as possible.  We can provide a ‘contactless’ service with these caravans & motorhomes too, please check our service centre page for more information.

Social Distancing Measures at each branch:

  • We will have a number of hand sanitiser stations available.
  • We are limiting the number of people allowed in the buildings.
  • We will have clear floor markings (one-way systems where necessary) and signage to facilitate social distancing compliance.
  • Staff will be given the option to wear masks and gloves.
  • We have removed the hot & cold drink facilities.
  • Contactless payments where possible.
  • Perspex screens will be installed in all sales offices, at the shop till and the Aftersales counter.
  • Increased cleaning in both the showrooms and the vehicles.

If you are displaying any coronavirus symptoms please do not visit any of our 3 branches.

Coronavirus – Annual Servicing Requirements

We’ve had a number of enquiries recently asking for clarification about the 2020 annual servicing requirements and how this will affect the manufacturer’s warranty.

  • Bailey have given a 6 month extension to the 2020 annual service due date.
  • Swift have given a 4 month extension to the 2020 annual service due date.
  • Lunar recognise that the Coronavirus is going to impact on Lunar owners being able to have their caravan serviced. Lunar Automotive are willing to assess all cases on merit covering the situations below:
    • If a customer has to cancel their appointment due to self-isolation.
    • If an appointment is cancelled by the dealer or NCC agent.
    • If a service is due during a self-isolation period or an enforced Government lockdown and unable to be booked in, then Lunar will also take these factors into account.

Hopefully this information will ease the concerns for our customers although please note that all are subject to review from our manufacturers and possible future change.

We will have a backlog of customers once lockdown restrictions have been lifted and we return to work on 1st June.  We will do our utmost to clear this as soon as possible so customers can use their caravan or motorhome for the remainder of the season.

Coronavirus – We Are Now Closed

During lockdown all non-essential shops are closed.  This includes all 3 of our branches in Swindon, Oxford & Reading.

So all 3 branches are still SHUT. Please do not visit any of our 3 branches.  We will open again as soon as Government policy allows.

Hopefully these drastic measures will stem the spread of this disease and we can all return to a safe working environment at the earliest opportunity.

Government rules may change soon and we will take the necessary steps as and when they arise and update our customers accordingly.
